Church Council Meeting Minutes | August 26, 2025

Present: Fritz Sabbow, Charlotte Lichtenberg, Robert Rokos, Liz Jaques, Shawn Lamarche, Bobbi Perez, Patience Whitman, Annie Scavo, Jo Husslein, Howard Husslein, Naj Wikoff, Pam Gothner, Elizabeth Davidson Derr, Thomas Baillargen, Andre d’Avignon, Martha Gallagher, and Deborah Mitchell.    

Fritz Sabbow opened the meeting at 5:02 PM.  This meeting was held via Zoom. 

Opening Prayer: Fritz led us in prayer.   

Determination of Quorum: We had a quorum at today’s meeting. 

Approval of last month’s KVCC Council Minutes: Naj made a motion to accept the July Council meeting minutes.  Thomas seconded the motion.  A discussion was held, and the motion passed.     

DISCUSSION ITEMS: 

Church Bazaar Results: Robert provided the Council with current revenue amounts from the church bazaar sales and will provide the Council with the final numbers once he has them.  Robert then discussed our receipt of $100,000 from the AMS Fund and approximately $95,000 from the Jane Knight Bequest Fund.  Fritz suggested we review the intent of the first disbursement from the Jane Knight Bequest before making any decisions.

Manse Rental Update: The current tenants are expected to vacate the manse by October 1^st. 

Transition Team/Search Committee Update: Fritz informed the Council that the Transition Team had their final meeting, and the Search Committee entering their phase.  They anticipate adding new members and developing the Church’s profile in September. 

NY UCC Boundaries Training Opportunity: Fritz provided the Council with information about the upcoming NY UCC Boundaries training and will send an email to Council describing how to register. 

Susy Doolittle’s Vegetable Garden: Susy is looking for people to help with the maintenance of the church’s vegetable garden. 

Other New Business:

Howard discussed the need to replace some of the garage doors and provided the Council with the estimate for this project.  After a discussion around this project, the Council agreed this proceed with funding this project.

September 6 – Mitchell/Capalbo Wedding

September 13 - Bonanno/Nason Wedding

September 23 – Church Council
